Blessed Chiara Badano
Chiara was born on October 29,1971 in Sassello, Italy. Ever since a young age Chiara understood the importance of doing Gods will. When she was around the age of 4 years old she would give away her perfectly good toys to the poor, and she would visit the elders at elder homes to help out and bring them comfort. Also, when other people were sick and in bed, Chiara made it her responsibility to visit them and bring them comfort and love.
At the age of 9 she joined the Focolare movement which is an Italian Catholic movement. Chiara had a very powerful experience at a retreat when she was around the age of 16, and from that day on she took Jesus to be her only spouse for the rest of her life. When she was around the age of 16 she found out that she had a rare intense bone cancer, but Chiara never let that bring her down, and she continued to bring others to Jesus even when she was sick. Chiara never took pain medication or Morphine because she wanted to suffer with Jesus Christ and she offered up her pain for other people. When Chiara was undergoing a complicated surgery she was visited by the Blessed Mother, Mary grasped Chiara's hand and made her heart fill with joy, love and peace. Chiara always put other people before herself and continued to help other people even when she was dying.
Chiara died on October 7,1990 and she was buried in a wedding gown to represent that it may have been the end of her life but she was going to be united with her life long spouse Jesus Christ, who Chiara accepted to be her spouse when she was 9 years old. Her feast day is celebrated on October 9th.
Blessed Chiara Badano showed us that when we live a life devoted to God we can be a light to others even when we are extremely ill. Chiara always kept a smile on her face to remind people that Christ was also with her and suffered besides her. Chiara may have lived a short life but she was able to win many souls for Christ during her life, and she also served other people before herself no matter what her health may have been. Chiara is an excellent example for us because she showed how we can serve others, and do God’s will even when it may seem impossible to do.
Prayer to Blessed Chiara Badano:
Blessed Chiara Badano intercede for us that we may be able to guide more people especially young people to God. Intercede that we may be able to spread God’s graces and love to everyone we meet and help us to have the strength we need to spread God’s graces and love even when we are extremely ill. Intercede that we may be able to live in a deeper devotion to Christ and Mary so that we may have mercy on everyone and offer up all our pain for others. We ask that you may help us to be a light to others and not be afraid to guide other people to God even through persecution and illness.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord and Mary Our Mother in Heaven.

Blessed Chiara Badano is currently on her way to becoming a saint, it is important for me to try and get more people to know about the amazing person she was. Blessed Chiara Badano was a person who would walk with other patients even when it caused her much pain, but she did it to assure that they knew Christ was with them always. I ask and pray that the people who read this will share Blessed Chiara Badano’s story with their family and friends because she is an amazing person and has changed my life greatly and inspired me to be a better person.
Remember to be a light to others and stay positive in times of confusion and suffering so that you may deepen your devotion to God and continue on your path to sainthood.
