Blessed Emmanuel Ruiz and Companions
Today we celebrate the feast day of a very heroic man named Blessed Emmanuel Ruiz. Blessed Emmanuel was born to very humble parents who lived in Santander, Spain. Bl. Emmanuel was able to become a Franciscan priest and he had served as a missionary in Damascus. Bl. Emmanuel served during a time when anti-Christian riots shook Syria and more than thousands of people lost their lives in just a short time period. Among these people who died were Bl. Emmanuel, the superior of the Franciscan convent, seven other friars, and three other laymen. Before there death a menacing crowd came looking for them, however they refused to renounce their faith and leave it. They were later subjected to horrible tortures before their martyrdom. Bl. Emmanuel, his brother Franciscans and the three other Maronite laymen were beatified by Pope Pius XI during the year 1926.

Help us to stay strong in moments of trouble, fear or sadness. Help us to stay strong during these moments and help us to pray to Christ for comfort and guidance. Amen Bl. Emmanuel and Companions pray for us St. Joseph pray for us
