St. Agnes of Montepulciano
Today we celebrate the feast day of St. Agnes. St. Agnes was a nun and a foundress in Tuscany, Italy.
St. Agnes was born during the year 1268 in Italy. At the young age of nine, St. Agnes decided to enter the monastery of Montepulciano. The monastery was located very close to her house which was located in Gracchiano-Vecchio.
After four years, St. Agnes was commissioned by the Pope who was Pope Nicholas IV to assist with the foundation of a new convent which was in Proceno, Italy.
When St. Agnes turned fifteen years old she had become the head of all the nuns there. When St. Agnes was the head she remained extremely kind and respectful to every person that she met and she spread God’s love through the many acts of charity and kindness she would perform.
When St. Agnes was head, 1300 people in Montepulciano came together to build a new convent with the hopes of luring St. Agnes back to them. St. Agnes was a person who left a lasting impression on every person she met due to the fact that she treated everyone she met with the upmost of respect, kindness and love.
St. Agnes established a convent that followed the Dominican rule. St. Agnes governed at that Convent for the rest of her life after she had created it. St. Agnes died during the year 1317. St. Agnes’ feast day is celebrated on April 20.
St. Agnes reported that in one of the visions she had experienced, St. Agnes held the infant Jesus in arms. While St. Agnes was holding the infant Jesus in her hands an angel gave her the Holy Communion.
During St. Agnes' lifetime, she was able to experience levitations and St. Agnes was able to perform many miracles for the people who lived near her. St. Agnes is still highly respected in Tuscany, Italy.

St. Agnes intercede that we may be able to treat everyone with love, respect, kindness, mercy and generosity regardless of how they have treated us. St. Agnes help us to be ready to follow Gods will regardless of what we have to give up in order to follow it.
