St Denis and Companions
Today we will remember the life that was lived by St. Denis. St. Denis is an amazing saint who had trusted in Christ even during difficult moments in his life.
St. Denis is a martyr and he is the patron saint of France. During St. Denis’ life he was able to become the first bishop of Paris. St. Denis’ popularity is due to a large amount of stories about his life, some stories mention his connection with the great abbey church of St. Denis in Paris.
During his life, St. Denis had gone to Gaul from Rome during the third century and he was beheaded during the persecution that had occurred under Emperor Valerius during the year 258.
According to one account of his life, after St. Denis was martyred on Montmartre which was known as; “mountain of martyrs” in Paris. After being martyred, St. Denis had carried his head to a village that was located in the northeast of the city. In that area of St. Genevieve had built a basilica over his burial place during the beginning of the sixth century. St. Denis’ feast day is celebrated on October 9th.

St. Denis and Companions intercede that we may be able to be a better sibling, a better friend, a better family member, and a better example towards others. St. Denis help us to practice humility, kindness, compassion, and peace during our daily lives. Help us to guide more people to Christ through actions of love and charity.
