St. Joachim and St. Anne
Today we celebrate the feast day of St. Joachim and St. Anne. In the Scriptures, Matthew and Luke were able to construct writings on the legal family history of Jesus, tracing his ancestry back many generations to show that Jesus is the culmination of great promises. St. Joachim and St. Anne were the parents of the Virgin Mary.
St. Joachim and St. Anne were faithful, loving and caring parents. St. Joachim and St. Anne helped Mary build and grow in her love and devotion to God.
The strong character that the Virgin Mary was able to show while making difficult decisions, through her continuous practice of prayer, through her devotion to the laws of her faith, through her steadiness during moments of crisis, and through her devotion to her relatives all came from the love, devotion, kindness and charity that her parents had shown to her while she was growing up.
St. Anne and St. Joachim feast day is celebrated on July 26. St. Anne is the patron saint of mothers and women in labor. Both St. Anne and St. Joachim are the patron saints of grandparents.
Prayer to St. Anne and St. Joachim
St. Anne and St. Joachim intercede that we may be able to raise our children and grandchildren with charity and love. Help us to guide them to Christ and help us to teach them about all the different Saints and virtues.
