St. Joseph


St. Joseph is one of the most impactful and beautiful saints to ever live. St. Joseph was a man who showed the importance of living a life devoted to God and fully trusting in God’s will even when it was hard to do. St. Joseph was a hard working, chaste, faithful, and virtuous man. St. Joseph cared a lot for his family and did everything he could to take care of Mary and Jesus.


St. Joseph was a carpenter and a very hard working man. St. Joseph may not have been a rich man but he did the best he could with the help from God to provide for his family. St. Joseph was a very humble man and very caring person.


When St. Joseph found out that Mary was caring a baby, he knew that the baby was obviously not his, and he was in a lot of confusion because he did not know at first that Mary was carrying the Son of God. St. Joseph was also aware of what could have happened if a women was accused of committing adultery during that time. St. Joseph who still had not known that Mary was caring Jesus decided to send her away so that she would not get accused of anything. St. Joseph was dealing with a lot of confusion. However, one night an angel of God spoke to him and said "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home," the angel said. "For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." (Matthew 1:19-25) St. Joseph was a descendant of a king of Israel, king David. St. Joseph obeyed God’s will and his life of devotion to God had begun, St. Joseph took Mary to be his wife and spent a lot of time in prayer which helped him fulfill God’s will.


St. Joseph lived a very difficult life however prayer, faith and obedience to God helped him get through all the challenges. For example when Jesus was young an angel visited St. Joseph and told him that his family could be in harms way, therefore he obeyed the angel, and immediately after seeing the angel fled to Egypt with Mary and baby Jesus and waited there until the angel told St. Joseph that it was safe to return. ( May be found in Matthew 2:13-23). St. Joseph loved his son Jesus a lot and cared a whole lot about him. A famous story from the bible is when Jesus stays at the temple and Mary and Joseph look for him for a while. It mentions in the bible that St. Joseph and Mary looked for Jesus for 3 whole days and were worried for Jesus and where he was. (Can be found in Luke 2:48). St. Joseph treated Jesus as his son and many people would say when they saw Jesus “Is this not the son of Joseph?" (Luke 4:22) St. Joseph was a man who impacted many people’s lives through his humility, generosity and love which made many people remember who he was.


St. Joseph lived a life where he fully trusted in God regardless of how much he may have wanted to take control. St. Joseph’s trust and devotion to God is what helped him to be more understanding with the whole situation with Mary and take her as his wife. St. Joseph’s strong devotion to God is what helped him to be a faithful and chaste spouse to the Virgin Mary. St. Joseph made many sacrifices for his family so that he may help them to grow spiritually and be safe from all dangers.


St. Joseph is believed to have been born during 90 BC in Bethlehem and he passed away on July 20, AD 18 in Nazareth. St. Joseph is the patron saint of many different things such as; He is the patron saint of immigrants, the dying, the Universal Church, engineers, expectant mothers, unborn babies, families and fathers.

St. Joseph’s feast day is celebrated on March 19th and St. Joseph is also the saint of the year!



How can we live a life of deeper devotion to St. Joseph who is a truly amazing saint and a patron to many countries and places?


One way is by learning more about the life he lived, the way he talked to people, the way he protected his family, the way he over came all temptations and the many trials he faced.


It’s important to remember that St. Joseph kept himself chaste and faithful to Mary even when it may have been hard to do so. St. Joseph always served his family and other before himself. St. Joseph is also known to perform many miracles through peoples intercession and he has had many apparitions.


St. Joseph cares about each one of us so it is important that we pray to him to keep us safe and away from all evil and temptations everyday, since St. Joseph is Terror of Demons, since the demons truly fear him because of his intercession with Jesus, so lets all start to pray to St. Joseph so that he may help us fight all temptations and trials that we may encounter during our daily lives.


Prayer to St. Joseph:

St. Joseph help us to strengthen our devotion and relationship with you. St. Joseph protect us from all the snares of the devil and help us to fight and over come all the temptations and trials that we may overcome throughout our daily lives. St. Joseph help us to gain more respect and love towards you spouse Mary and your son Jesus, help us to spend more time with them in prayer everyday. St. Joseph intercede that we may serve other people before we serve ourselves and help us to be willing to allow Jesus into our lives fully and completely.

St. Joseph guide us on our journey to sainthood and please help us to be more faithful, honest, humble, chaste, pious, generous, merciful and loving everyday.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord and Mary Our Mother in Heaven
