St Mary Magdalene

Today we celebrate the feast day of St. Mary Magdalene.

St. Mary Magdalene, was the person whom Christ had cast out “seven demons” (Luke 8:2) which is an indication that she had been very influenced by evil.

St. Mary Magdalene was one of the many people “who were assisting them [Jesus and the Twelve] out of their means.” St. Mary had chosen to stand by the cross of Jesus with his mother. Also St. Mary was one of the first people to know about the Resurrection, she was the one to whom that privilege was given. St. Mary is also known as the “Apostle to the Apostles.”

Through St. Mary’s life it is clear how merciful and loving Christ is. St. Mary who had lived a very sinful life before allowing Christ into her life was able to be completely renewed and reborn after she had allowed Christ into her life. Through her life we see that we don’t have to ask Christ for another chance, we simply have to accept Him into our lives, since Christ is always waiting for us to let Him into our hearts so that we may endure His infinite love and mercy.

Prayer to St. Mary

St. Mary help us to allow Jesus into our lives. Help us to surrender ourselves to him so that we may be able to get rid of any addictions or pains that might be pulling us away from Him.

Amen
