St. Michael, St. Gabriel, and St. Raphael

Today as we remember the events of September 11th 2001, it is important that we remember all of the first responders that put their lives on the line to save others, it is important that we pray for all of the people who have lost a loved one or been affected by these events and we pray for all of those that lost their lives. Today we will remember these events by learning about saints who are the patron saints of first responders and the dead. We may pray that they may be with all the current first responders so that they may have be healthy and have the strength they need to help others and we pray that they may be with all the first responders that have passed away. We also pray that these saints may be with all of those who have lost a loved one or been affected by the events of September 11, 2001.

St. Michael:

St. Michael actually appeared in Daniel’s vision as “the great prince”. Devotion to St. Michael is one of the oldest angelic devotion, it had begun in the East during the fourth century. The Church in the West had begun to observe a feast honoring St. Michael and the angels in the fifth century.

St. Gabriel:

St. Gabriel had also made appearances in Daniel’s visions, announcing St. Michael’s role in God’s plan. His best-known appearance is an encounter with a young Jewish girl named Mary, who had agreed to bear the Messiah.

St. Raphael:

St. Raphael’s activity is mentioned in the Old Testament story of Tobit. There he appears to guide Tobit’s son Tobiah through a series of fantastic adventures which lead to a threefold happy ending.

St. Michael, St. Raphael, and St. Gabriel are the patron saints of death,

Germany, grocers, police officers/ first responders and radiologists. St. Gabriel is the patron saint of broadcasters and St. Raphael is the patron saint of the blind and travelers.

Prayer to St. Gabriel, St. Michael, and St. Raphael:

We also pray that you may be with all the people who passed away due to the tragic events of September 11, 2001 and please be with all the families, friends and people who lost a loved one or were affected in any other way.
